Hot Press is saddened to learn about the death of Irish promoter, Martin Thomas.
Martin Thomas, one of the leading lights of the Irish dance music scene for many years, has passed away in Dublin.
Along with Rory O'Keeffe, Martin was the driving force behind Rock & Roll Rescue Squad, Strictly Fish, Strictly Handbag, Ultra Lounge and Most Wanted, among other promotional and musical initiatives. One of the most influential promoters on the Irish scene, he was a genuine ideas man, who also had a huge passion for music.
In 2005, Martin set up the rock'n'roll karaoke experience 'Song Of Praise'. Guest DJs in Thomas' clubs have included big names like Kevin Rowland, Terry Hall, Glen Matlock and Will Sergeant – reflecting the huge respect in which he was held throughout the business.
