The Irish trad-punk band have also announced a new album ahead of their upcoming May 1 gig.
Ispíní na hÉireann (‘Sausages of Ireland’) are set to perform in Dublin’s 3Olympia on Thursday, May 1. The self-proclaimed Hardest Working Band have also announced a new project, Poxtail Soup, to launch later this year.
The band were formed by banjo player Adam J. Holohan and guitar player Tomás Mulligan in 2017. They would later be joined by cellist Aongus MacAmhlaigh and saxophonist Pádraig Óg Mac Aodhagáin.
Ispíní na hÉireann released their debut album, The Hard Working Men, in October 2022. The record features a mix of original songs and reimagined covers of traditional Irish songs. The band had been developing The Hard Working Men for a few years before the Covid-19 pandemic halted its progress.
“This, however, may have been a blessing in disguise for this particular album as it gave the Hard Woking Men time to reflect and analyse what they had already put together, and also an opportunity to write new material about their view of the state of the world,” a press release read.

The group’s latest record, a five-track EP titled Worse Things Than Dying, released in late 2023. Announcing the record on social media, the band wrote,“We could easily give one the impression that we only play light-hearted songs, but here we present a collection of music that we have always held dearly yet never quite knew where to put.”
Tickets for Ispíní na hÉireann’s 3Olympia show go on sale Friday, January 31 at 10am.
