Jack Black said he was "blindsided" by his bandmate's comments.
Jack Black has cancelled Tenacious D's tour after remarks bandmate Kyle Gass made about Donald Trump. The School of Rock star also said that "all future creative plans" for Tenacious D are on hold.
After Black singing ‘Happy Birthday’ to Gass during their July 14 Sydney performance, the lead singer asked his bandmate's birthday wish, to which Gass replied “don’t miss Trump next time”.
The comment was in reference to the assassination attempt on Donald Trump, where a shooter fired at him, but only managed to graze his ear.
Speaking about Gass' controversial comments on social media, Black said he was "blindsided by what happened on Sunday".
The musician went on to say that he "would never condone hate speech or political violence in any form".

Black concluded his statement saying: "After much reflection, I no longer feel it is appropriate to continue the Tenacious D Tour and all future creative plans on hold".

Following Black's statement, Gass apologised on Instagram.
"The line I improvised Sunday night in Sydney was highly inappropriate, dangerous and a terrible mistake," he wrote on Tuesday. "I don't condone violence in any kind, in any form, against anyone" the guitarist said.
"What happened was a tragedy, and I'm incredibly sorry for my severe lack of judgement" he added.
The performance in Sydney’s ICC Arena was part of the duo's 'Spicy Meatball Tour', and they were due to play another week of dates as part of the Australian leg of the tour before heading to New Zealand.

Tenacious D was also scheduled to tour America later this year.
