Taking a DIY approach to his music, Jake Aho carves out a sound of his own.
Detroit artist Jake Aho just dropped a new single entitled ‘worm burner.’ Known for fronting the garage-punk act Toeheads, Aho’s recent solo material shows his versatility as a musician. Over the past four weeks, he’s been dropping folky bedroom pop singles unlike any of his prior work. Aho is still faithfully adhering to the old school recording method of a 4-track tape recorder. Though it comes with some inconveniences, the tone that recording to tape provides is full of authenticity and integrity.
‘Worm burner’ is an excellent tune with one of Aho’s best hooks. Gentle acoustic guitars and light tambourines give the song an intimate feeling. The best part of the song is, as usual, his unique vocal delivery and production. Stream and download ‘worm burner’ on his Bandcamp today.
