Star Wars, Jurassic World and Minions also haul in big bucks
Ireland’s top 10 grossing films of 2015 have just been revealed with the latest instalment James Bond coming out on top.
Spectre beats out Star Wars: The Force Awakens for top spot, though considering how late in the year the latter was released the €117m made by the latest in the franchise is particularly impressive.
2015 proved to be a record breaking year for crowds rushing to the cinema to go see the newest blockbusters as combined figures for Ireland and the UK show a whopping €1.75 billion was brought in.
Franchises dominate the list as sequels such as Hunger Games, Avengers and Fast & Furious 7 are found near the summit. Animation also bodes well, rounding off the list with favourites such as Minions and Inside Out.
Despite many filmmakers and cinemas fearing the likes of Netflix taking away numbers, the figures below suggest that they have nothing to worry about yet.
