There's just a few days to go until James Vincent McMorrow returns with his eagerly anticipated new album, Wide Open, Horses. To celebrate the release, the Dublin singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist is playing a unique one-off Windmill Live show in Dublin on Thursday, June 13 – the eve of the album release. And we've got complimentary tickets up for grabs!
Speaking to Hot Press – as part of a fascinating upcoming interview – James claims that he created the new album (out June 14 via Nettwerk Music Group) as a means to "push [himself] back out into the world in a meaningful way again."
In 2023, long before the album's release, he brought Wide Open, Horses to life on stage – performing the new material, which was not yet recorded, over the course of two nights at National Concert Hall in Dublin.
“The premise was to re-engage with music in a way that made sense to me again,” he explains.
James has released a string of powerful singles in the run-up to the album release, including 'Give Up', 'Call Me Back', 'Stay Cool', 'Never Gone', and 'Things We Tell Ourselves'.
Wide Open, Horses – James' seventh full-length album – is available to pre-order here. It's the latest addition to a phenomenal catalogue, which has clocked up over one billion streams.
This special Windmill Live show – which will also feature special Niamh Regan – is the latest in a star-studded series of gigs, all held in the Townhall at 1WML, a renowned rock ‘n’ roll location in the heart of Dublin's Windmill QTR. The series, curated by Hot Press, have featured major names like LYRA, Gavin James, Lisa Hannigan, The Coronas, The Academic, Hothouse Flowers, Moncrieff and more.
