With over one billion streams across a phenomenal catalogue of work, James Vincent McMorrow has more than earned his reputation as one of the country’s most accomplished stars. Now – with his eagerly anticipated new album just around the corner – the Dublin artist is set to headline a unique one-off Windmill Live show in Dublin, on Thursday, June 13.
Taking place in the Townhall at 1WML, a renowned rock ‘n’ roll location in the heart of the capital’s Windmill QTR, the show is the latest in a series of lauded gigs, curated by Hot Press, that have featured major names like LYRA, Gavin James, Lisa Hannigan, The Coronas, The Academic, Hothouse Flowers, Moncrieff and more. If that’s not enticing enough, fans are invited to apply for complimentary tickets to the event through our website now!
James Vincent McMorrow’s Windmill Live headliner takes place on the eve of the release of Wide Open, Horses – his first project to be shared via Nettwerk Music Group, on June 14. A leading light in Irish music since 2010, the singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist has been certified Gold in the UK and Platinum in Australia; debuted at No.1 on the Irish Charts with 2016’s We Move; lent his voice to releases from the likes of Drake and Kygo; and sold out tours on multiple continents.
Wide Open, Horses, he says, is about “finding relief from the cycle of life’s pressure” – embracing a sense of “nostalgia and happiness” in this high-tech age.
“The whole process was rebuilding myself and my connection to music, who I am, and what I wanted to be when I was starting out at 20-years-old,” James says of the new LP. “I struggle like everyone else does, but I’m going to appreciate the fuck out of every moment I get now. When I play shows, I want them to be shows you talk about for years. Going through hardship, I’m back to a point where I can see myself very clearly in the music and I know what I can do.”
