The lads with the hair are still number one.
The Grimes brothers are at number one again. Celebrating week number two in the charts, the now occasionally down-styled duo’s third album debuted at number one, and has lasted out the week. Could they make it three in a row, or is two really the magic number?
The Chieftains and company are at number two, having jumped a massive 37 places since last week. It may have something to do with the star-studded cast of featured artists on the new album. Everyone, from Bon Iver, Low Anthem and The Decemberists, to home-grown favourites Lisa Hannigan and Imelda May make an appearance. Fresh from the Westport Festival two weeks ago, The Chieftains celebrate their 50th anniversary in style.
Up to the number three spot this week is Maroon 5 with Overexposed. The Californian pop rockers have taken lessons from no. 1 single ‘Moves Like Jagger’ and headed in a more dance direction. It’s standing to them so far.
Elsewhere in the top ten, Chris Brown, Ed Sheeran, One Direction and Justin Bieber are standing firm beside old favourites Paul Simon, The Stone Roses and Linkin Park.

Meanwhile, Glen Hansard and Adele are trading places at the top of the Irish Indie chart. Glen is down to number two, with Adele sitting pretty on top once more. It seems 21 is holding onto the top ten with the finger strength of an adolescent gorilla. Celebrating yet another week on the high end of the Indie chart, her record-shattering second album is stickier than a toddler with a pot of jam. Also in the top five this week are Alabama Shakes, Original Rudeboys and Noel Gallagher’s High-Flying Birds.
