Jenny Kelly
We've plumped for a strictly Irish downloads section this issue, and while I could put this down to an abnormality in the plate tectonics of the world's soundscape, I won't, because that would be hilarious and wrong. I've selected only homegrown watchables and downloadables this week, because other things simply aren't as good. No wonder you can't swing a guitar stand in this town without hitting a holidaying music legend these days.
We begin with the adventure-hungry Fight Like Apes, who have decided to resurrect the ancient art of cheese-rolling (what else?) in their video for 'Jenny Kelly' – an ode to a character from almost forgotten '90s TV show The Girl From Tomorrow, taken from their Choice Prize-nominated second album. The hare-brained trio dig out their old Raleigh cycling gear and spend three bizarre minutes chasing a lump of the yellow stuff around the Irish countryside. If you ask me (hey, look over there, esteemed members of the Pulitzer Prize board!), they’re cheddar off without the stuff!
