Jenny Lewis has shared 'Under The Supermoon,' a collaboration with famed Malian guitarist Habib Koité. It will appear on upcoming benefit album Let The Rhythm Lead: Haiti Song Summit Vol. 1.
The multilingual track is accompanied by a music video that features Lewis and Koité road tripping through Haiti. The pair travel in a covered bus, meet locals and dance basked in the glow of a bonfire celebration.
"It's a love song [that was] written in Jacmel floating in the Caribbean Sea under the supermoon of November 2016," Lewis tells Entertainment Weekly. The track chronicles her travels after her disappointment with the 2016 U.S. presidential election and the peace she finds "under the supermoon." "I didn't sleep a wink that night / I met Jackson on an early flight / We both said goodbye L.A.," she sings.
Let the Rhythm Lead will honour and benefit Artists for Peace and Justice, a non-profit organization dedicated to breaking the cycle of poverty. The project will blend genres and languages and includes artists from four different countries.
