The English pop star and the xx guitarist/vocalist premiered the track during Ware’s Glastonbury set over the weekend.
Jessie Ware and the xx’s Romy have shared a new track together. Produced by Stuart Price (Madonna, Dua Lipa, Kylie Minogue), ‘Lift You Up’ is the first collaboration between the two artists. Ware and Romy also debuted the track onstage at Glastonbury over the weekend.
“I’ve been a fan of Jessie’s music for a long time and it was amazing to finally work together after many years of friendship,” Romy said in a press release. “We wanted this song to be uplifting, celebrate togetherness, and I can’t think of a better way to share it with everyone than at Glastonbury.”
Romy previously worked with Ware on the latter’s 2014 album, Tough Love, co-writing the song ‘Share It All.’
“I was so excited to be in the room with my friend and to see how she works and to hear her beautiful voice,” Ware added. “I’m so proud of the record. It’s a song that’s about both of us being too hard on ourselves, and not believing enough in ourselves. I think anyone can relate to that.”
