The folk artist will be performing songs from his new album across Ireland in October
Cork-born folk artist John Blek has announced the release of his 9th studio album Cheer Up on September 6.
The 34-year-old says his newest LP is, "entirely autobiographical from start to finish" and draws lyrical inspiration from the singer/songwriter's personal life.
Co-produced by Brian Casey Cheer Up features performances from Dutch three-piece harmony group Woolf and the Dresden-based Broken strings.
"Part of the joy of my life is getting to meet other artists. I played some shows with Woolf in the Netherlands, and we immediately clicked," says Blek. "The first time I heard them sing together, I knew I wanted to work with them and to hear their voices add a new depth to my songs. It was the same with Moritz Brümmer and Filip Sommer (The Broken Strings)."

Previously the frontman of John Blek and the Rats, the singer/songwriter began his venture as a solo artist in 2014, mixing traditional vocals and fingerstyle guitar playing.
Known for his extensive live performances across Ireland, UK and Europe, Blek will perform songs from his latest album in his upcoming gigs with The Broken Strings in October. The tour includes dates in Kilkenny, Clonakilty, Cork and Dublin.
