"I looked at our weary world a few years ago and tried to think of a way I could spread love and empathy," said the actor.
John C. Reilly has announced his debut album What's Not To Love, set for release on June 13, 2025 under the stage name Mister Romantic.
What's Not To Love will feature 13 renditions of classics from the Great American Songbook, popularised by artists such as Louis Armstrong, Tom Waits, Irving Berlin and Jo Stafford.
The American actor has also released the lead single 'Dream,' a cover of Johnny Mercer's 1944 jazz and pop standard which has been sung by the likes of Frank Sinatra and Roy Orbison.
"I looked at our weary world a few years ago and tried to think of a way I could spread love and empathy," said Reilly in a statement.

"I decided the most fun way to do that was through performing and singing and telling people I loved them. So the emotional vaudeville show Mister Romantic was born, out of both hope and despair.
"What’s Not To Love? is a collection of songs from the show with some cinematic audio weaved in," continued the statement. "They tell the story of an eternal optimist, Mister Romantic, as he looks for love.
"The lyrics all have something deeply true about them. Someone once said 'It’s better to light one tiny candle than to curse the darkness.' Well, this is our little candle in the darkness. We hope it reminds people that it’s good to love. I figured it was worth a try."
Reilly has featured in musical films like Rob Marshall's Chicago (2002), which earned him nominations for an Academy Award and a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor, and Jake Kasdan's cult classic Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story (2007).
He has also released singles like 'Gonna Lay Down My Old Guitar' with Tom Brusseau, or 'I'll Be There If You Ever Want' with Becky Stark.
The actor was recently honoured at the 2025 Oscar Wilde Awards. In his emotional acceptance speech, Reilly expressed his admiration for the Irish people: "what really stands out to me at this moment is their love of democracy and their common decency," he said.
"Someone more eloquent than me once said 'a nation's greatness is measured by the care they give to the most vulnerable,'" he added. "That's how you make a country great. You put your beliefs to work. That's what the Irish do."
