The flute was inside a black box covered in stickers.
John Francis Flynn is asking the public for help in locating his missing flute, which he lost over the long weekend in Dublin.
The award-winning Dublin folk singer and multi-instrumentalist shared the appeal on his Instagram page last night, stating that he lost his instrument "somewhere along The Royal Canal between Summer Hill and Broombridge" on Sunday night.
He shared two images of the flute's case, which he described as a black box with a handle, covered in stickers – including "a red Weird Walks sticker, an Ispíní na hÉireann sticker, 2 big Lorient Festival d'Interceltique stickers, some Lankum stickers and a load of other random stickers all over the case."
"If anyone spots it please let me know," he concludes. "Also, it'd be a great help if people could share this post. Thanks."

Flynn released his acclaimed debut album, I Would Not Live Always, last year, via Rough Trade's River Lea imprint. Following the release, he was named Best Emerging Artist and Best Folk Singer at the RTÉ Radio 1 Folk Awards. He also picked up nominations for two internationally renowned music awards earlier this year: in the Artist Of The Year category at Folk Alliance's International Folk Music Awards, and the Europe category of the Songlines Music Awards.
Last month, he played a major headline show at Vicar Street in Dublin.
You can see his upcoming live dates here – which include Beyond The Pale, Co. Wicklow (June 11); Galway Folk Festival (16); Body & Soul, Co. Westmeath (18); When Next We Meet, Co. Tipperary (July 1); Otherside, Co. Meath (9); and All Together Now, Co. Waterford (31).
