"It was an album made when it could be made, when the players were around because there was no label, and no funding..."
"A lot of things were done to acoustics and voice to click. I did a lot of track layering when Damien wasn’t here. It was basically an album made on downtime. It was an album made when it could be made, you know when the players were around because there was no label, no funding for it. Damien left it to myself really. I’d send him over tracks and that as I’d work on them. It took about a year I suppose to make.
"I initially recorded Damien on acoustic and then got players in to play whenever I could. I tried out a lot of things and different arrangements. I mean a track like ‘Factories’, I put on a band and then a big string section and then found it didn’t work, you know. Sometimes you’ve to try ten things for one to work. But the version on the album was done in one take live. There’s something about that take that was special. The other version is beautiful but the one we used was the one. Just raw and very emotional and best captured the song."
