Johnny Marr will celebrate the publication of Marr's Guitars at the Nation Concert Hall in Dublin
Johnny Marr is set to join broadcaster Phil Taggart for an exclusive live-in-conversation event at the National Concert Hall, Dublin on June 26, 2024, celebrating the publication of his book Marr’s Guitars.
Marr’s Guitars, which has already been shortlisted for the 2024 British Book Awards Prize, describes the lifetime evolution of Johnny Marr’s iconic sound and songwriting.
The book features personal reflections written by Johnny Marr, a foreword by Hans Zimmer, and photographs shot by Pat Graham. It also includes contributions from Noel Gallagher, Bernard Butler, and Ed O’Brien.
Marr’s Guitars offers a history of modern music through Johnny Marr’s collection of guitars. Some were passed to him by other musicians and collaborators, including Nile Rogers’ Stratocaster, Bryan Ferry’s Roxy Music Hagstrom, and Bert Jansch’s acoustic. Additionally, it includes guitars that he has passed on to others, such as the Stratocaster used by Noel Gallagher on ‘Wonderwall’ and the Gibson Les Paul used on ‘In Rainbows’ by Radiohead’s Ed O’Brien.

This event follows a sold-out show at the Dreamland Ballroom in Athy on June 25, marking Johnny Marr’s first visit to Ireland in 2024, after performing at the 2023 Electric Picnic Festival at Stradbally Hall.
The event arrives among various activities celebrating the first ten years of Johnny Marr’s prolific solo career. Since launching in 2013, Marr’s solo output has given rise to five UK Top Ten studio albums: The Messenger (2013), Playland (2014), Call The Comet (2018), Fever Dreams Pts 1-4 (2022), and Spirit Power: The Best Of Johnny Marr (2023).
Tickets for Johnny Marr In Conversation With Phil Taggart at The National Concert Hall, Dublin are on sale at NCH.ie from April 25, 10:00 BST.
