His wife announced the news on Saturday at a gala dinner
After the season finale and tragic departure of Jon Stewart from The Daily Show in August, we were unsure as to when we would see the television host make his next appearance.
While Stewart is not scheduled to return to television sets or radio stations anytime soon, he is planning to open an animal sanctuary with his wife, Tracey.
On Saturday, Tracey announced that the couple had purchased a farm in New Jersey, which will be transformed into an animal shelter and an educational centre.
It will be operated under the Farm Sanctuary group, and will be the fourth animal shelter to be established under the organization.
At the gala event, Stewart noted, "I'm a little uncomfortable. I've spent the last 20 years immersed in the world of Washington politics and the media landscape, so I don't know how to deal necessarily with people who have empathy."
The opening date for the facility has not yet been announced, but we are excited to see the impact that the sanctuary will have.
