Mitchell encouraged US citizens to go to the polls during this election season
Canadian-American singer-songwriter Joni Mitchell voiced her feelings on Donald Trump at her show last Friday. The performance, dubbed "Joni Jam" was her first headlining concert in Los Angeles in 24 years.
When a fan shouted an insult directed towards Trump during her performance, Mitchell responded by saying, "Fuck Donald Trump," and encouraging Americans to, “Get out and vote. This is an important one. I wish I could vote – I’m Canadian. I’m one of those lousy immigrants.”
Mitchell treated the audience to a series of songs that hadn't been played live in years. Her comments followed her performance of the politically charged title track from her 1985 album Dog Eat Dog, which she hadn't performed since the year of its release.

The lyrics reference, “Holy hope in the hands of / Snakebite evangelists and racketeers / And big wig financiers.” She ad-libbed the latter line, saying, “like Donald Trump.”
