Julien Baker & TORRES have released a new single ahead of their highly-anticipated album.
Julien Baker & TORRES' debut record, Send A Prayer My Way, will be available on April 18.
The announcement comes with the release of the duo’s second single, ‘Sylvia.’ The song was inspired by TORRES' pet, Sylvia, a dog that she had intended to foster, but later adopted instead.
“The morning I went to pick up my dog Sylvia from an upstate shelter, I was at home making coffee and I turned on WFMU and Dolly Parton’s ‘Cracker Jack’ was on,” TORRES said. “I burst into tears - it felt like the universe was telling me she was going to be mine.”
“I remember thinking that I’d love to write a song like that, a song that people could feel in their chest within five seconds of turning on the radio.”

Both Baker and TORRES are successful musicians in their own right, and have been performing long before they teamed up last year.
Baker debuted in 2015 with her album Sprained Ankle, gaining critical acclaim from the self release on Bandcamp. She would go on to form the Grammy award-winning supergroup boygenius in 2018 with Phoebe Bridgers and Lucy Dacus.
TORRES, the pseudonym for musician Mackenzie Scott, has been performing under the name since 2013. She has recorded six studio albums to date, all well-received critically. Her latest solo project, What An Enormous Room, released in January 2024.
