The news comes before the singer is set to perform a number of shows across North America and Europe in the coming weeks.
Justin Timberlake has been arrested for driving while intoxicated in New York on Tuesday morning, local police have confirmed.
The pop singer is said to have failed to maintain his lane of travel and pause at a stop sign while driving through the affluent village of Sag Harbour, Long Island.
He was held overnight and told of the charges against him, before eventually being released.
"On June 18 2024, at 12.37am, Justin R Timberlake, age 43, of Tennessee, was observed operating a 2025 BMW southbound on Madison Street, failing to stop at a duly posted stop sign and failing to maintain his lane of travel,” read a statement, seen by the PA news agency.
"A traffic stop was initiated by a Police Officer from the Sag Harbor Village Police Department and upon investigation it was determined that Mr Timberlake was operating his vehicle in an intoxicated condition.

"Mr Timberlake was placed under arrest, processed, and held overnight for morning arraignment. Mr Timberlake was arraigned at the Sag Harbor Village Justice Court on June 18 2024 at 9.30am, where he was released on his own recognisance."
Court papers described Timberlake’s eyes as being “bloodshot and glassy”, with “a strong odour of an alcoholic beverage emanating from his breath”.
“He was unable to divide attention, he had slowed speech, he was unsteady afoot and he performed poorly on all standardised field sobriety tests.”
The documents stated that Timberlake told police he had one martini and was following some friends home.
The former NSYNC member is due to perform shows in Chicago this week before two shows at Madison Square Garden in New York City next week, as part of his The Forget Tomorrow World Tour.
Timberlake’s latest solo album, Everything I Thought It Was, dropped last March.
