The Dublin-based rapper teamed up with Chris Kabs for the single.
Jamaican-Nigerian-Irish rapper JYellowL has dropped his third single from his highly-anticipated debut album. 'Mademoiselle', out September 4th, is a collaboration with producer Chris Kabs.
"This is the kind of track that comes about when two artists are in their feelings," JYellowL says of the single. "Chris Kabs sent me the instrumental and the title and I heard the words of the song through the chords. The song is about prioritising what and who really is important to you after a tiresome experience of trying to please everyone. It’s about giving roses to your role models, inspirations and loved ones while they’re around to smell them.”
JYellowL has a degree in politics from UCD, and his music explores the social problems that both intrigue and disturb him, from international conflict to economic inequality. He's unafraid to tackle subjects like racism in his music, and as protests erupted across the world, he spoke to a crowd of thousands at a Black Lives Matter protest in Dublin, envisioning a future Ireland that is radically inclusive and anti-racist.
