Since its initial release, ‘The Spark’ has amassed over 2 billion views on social media and 52 million streams, with support from the likes of Becky Hill, Stormzy, Tove Lo and more.
It's been a few months since Kabin Crew and Lisdoonvarna Crew released their viral track 'The Spark,' with rollicking performances at Electric Picnic and Pukkelpop. The hype hasn't stopped there.
So much so that the banger has been confirmed on the 67th GRAMMY ballot and is now in contention for a Grammy Award for Best Dance/Electronic Recording and Song of the Year.
With an ever-growing horde of widespread acclaim, 'The Spark' was born from a spontaneous burst of creativity at Kabin Studio, a repurposed metal container turned into a non-profit youth music space in North Cork City's Knocknaheeny.

“It’s amazing to think that a song that we created in our rap and songwriting workshops with these little legends from Cork & Clare is being considered for a Grammy nomination” said Garry McCarthy, Kabin Studio creative director and co-producer of ‘The Spark’. “Anytime we work with kids like these, it’s full of laughter and positive energy and it’s something that this world needs more of.
"The message in this song is all about inspiring creativity and confidence in people of all ages. Kids are powerful and it’s important that the world listens to them, especially in these times where we see so many innocent children are living in fear. All kids should be allowed to express themselves safely and grow up to be whoever they want to be, no matter where they’re born."
'The Spark' was initially recorded during an Easter camp at Kabin Studio, and completed at a Rhyme Island outreach workshop at a direction provision centre in Lisdoonvarna. Since it's release, the track has amassed over 2 billion views on social media and 52 million streams.
