The 'Space Cowboy' singer may be making her return this year.
Acclaimed American country musician Kacey Musgraves has teased the long-awaited follow-up to her latest album Golden Hour in social media posts celebrating her birthday last weekend.
The Grammy-winning singer-songwriter first shared a snippet of new music, then posting song lyrics in several posts on her Instagram.
The lyrics in full are:
Let me set the scene…
Two lovers ripped right at the seams
They woke up from the perfect dream
And then the darkness came.
I signed the papers yesterday
You came and took your things away
Moved out of the house we made
…And gave you back your name
What have we done?
Did we fly too high?
Just to get burned by the sun?
No one’s to blame
‘Cause we called all the angels to save us
Called them by name
But I guess they got lost…
The snippet features a Spanish guitar playing, which some music outlets and fans believe to be from a song called 'Star-Crossed', a Romeo and Juliet-inspired tune that Musgraves revealed in a recent interview.

Given the theme of the lyrics, there is also speculation that her upcoming record may discuss her divorce from fellow musician Ruston Kelly in 2020.
Musgraves' last release Golden Hour was a smash hit, earning the Texas artist four Grammy Awards in 2018, including the much-coveted Album of the Year gong.
Hot Press' Colm O'Hare enthused about it in his review, writing, "Musgraves has the attitude, talent and pop smarts to become a major mainstream star, and she can definitely sing – her voice is effortless and natural, though oddly familiar."
