Kacey Musgraves follows her propulsive divorce album Star-Crossed with a garland of pastoral self-reflection.
Kacey Musgraves has announced her new album Deeper Well will be released on 15 March via Interscope/MCA Nashville. The record is led by the title track, with a companion music video directed by Hannah Lux Davis.
“Sometimes you reach a crossroads. Winds change direction. What you once felt drawn to doesn’t hold the same allure,” Musgraves wrote of ‘Deeper Well’ in a statement. “You get blown off course, but eventually find your footing and forage for new inspiration, new insight, and deeper love somewhere else.”
Deeper Well marks the latest collaboration between Musgraves, Daniel Tashian and Ian Fitchuk following Golden Hour and most recently Star-Crossed. The album also features additional chops on the song ‘The Architect’ from Shane McAnally and Josh Osborn. This time, rather than recording in Nashville, they tracked the album mostly at Electric Lady Studios in New York, seeking to capture West Village elements. “I was seeking some different environmental energy, and Electric Lady has the best mojo,” Musgraves said.
