Well, it's been a hell of a weekend for Kanye. After he famously announced that he would have voted for Trump earlier this week, the rapper arrived over an hour late to his gig in Sacramento, only to play just two songs before immediately launching into a ten minute rant about Hillary Clinton, Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Facebook, and a lot of other things. As he walked back and forth on a stage suspended above the audience, he talked about the election, praised Kid Cudi, and of course, brought up that time with Taylor Swift at the 2009 VMAs. The crowd responded with cheers and boos, as West declared that "it's a new world," and "feelings matter," talking about the feelings of middle America that were reflected in the recent American election. This seemed to clash with the previous statement he made on Thursday when he declared his support for Trump, in which he called for black people to "stop focusing on racism" and "it's just a fucking fact, we are in a racist country." Apparently feelings matter, but according to West there's nothing to be done to protect these feelings from racism.
Though he had only played two songs at the gig, West ended his rant by asking a stage manager to lower the platform so he could end the show, causing outrage from fans. With tickets for the gig costing as much as 250 dollars, it's no wonder the Sacramento audience felt ripped off. Many are seeking refunds. The L.A crowd was the next to be disappointed, as West's scheduled Sunday gig was cancelled three hours in advance. The venue tweeted 'Tonight's show has been cancelled. Refunds at point of purchase,' the same day West was supposed to play. His next scheduled gig is in Fresno this Tuesday.
