Hold your breath if you dare... Kanye says Jesus Is King will be released on Friday.
Early this morning, rapper Kanye West tweeted for the first time since January to announce the release date of his highly-anticipated album, Jesus is King. "JESUS IS KING Oct. 25," he wrote, alongside a photo of a blue record, presumably the album art.

Fans greeted the news with trepidatious optimism, knowing that the star has failed to deliver on release dates numerous times in recent memory, including with Jesus is King which was originally set for release on 27 September.
In the days surrounding the original release, Kanye debuted the album for a select few fans in Chicago, New York, and Detroit but the album wasn't released to the public as planned. Meanwhile, his wife Kim Kardashian reassured fans that the album was on its way and that it would be worth the wait. Taking to Twitter, Kardashian posted an updated tracklist with the caption "Have faith..." and announced in an Instagram story that the album would in fact be out on 29 September.

Sunday came and went with no new album.
Does this story sound familiar? Perhaps it's because Ye and Co. have pulled this act before.
Around the same time last year, fans were in the same predicament. After announcing he'd drop his album, Yandhi, on 29 September 2018, Kanye missed the deadline and his wife tweeted out reassurance for fans.
"Nov 23 Black Friday YANDHI," Kardashian wrote. "TRUST ME it is worth the wait".

Yandhi, of course, never saw the light of day.
Needless to say, fans aren't thrilled that on the anniversary of the Yandhi fiasco, they've been deprived of yet another Kanye West album.
After the September deadlines passed, one fan pledged to give up his over 30 pairs of Yeezys, sneakers designed by West. "IF THIS ALBUM DONT DROP TODAY IM DONE BEING A KANYE FAN," wrote @MyCruelThoughts on Twitter. "IM GONNA GIVE AWAY MORE THAN 30 PAIRS OF YEEZYS IN A SIZE 10.5 RT IF YOU WANT ONE. #JesusIsKing"

Others decided to blame his wife for giving people false hope. "kim kardashian isnt allowed to announce kanye’s albums anymore," wrote Twitter user @melancholicmex.

Some fans, however, seem to be willing to hold their breath this time around. One Twitter account dedicated to tracking the release date of Jesus is King, aptly named @DidJesusDrop, tweeted out their excitement that Kanye finally broke his silence on the issue.

Only time will tell whether or not Ye will stick to this date. In the meantime, take a listen to Kanye West's most recent release, KIDS SEE GHOSTS here.
