The Leceister band released their eponymous debut album 20 years ago this year.
Kasabian are back and on fire with an "explosive" new studio album Happenings. The announcement is accompanied by a new song, 'Call' - the lead single off the Leicester group's upcoming LP.
Happenings is Kasabian's 8th studio album and is slated for a July 5 release.
Both the lead single off the album and the first track written for Happenings, ‘Call’ set the tone with its huge, popping, weaving synth riff, flavoured with backing chants and chiming grooves.
The track has a pronounced dance music quality with the distortion of frontman Serge Pizzorno's vocal and it's pulsating beats. The video is also a high energy affair with a smartphone featuring Pizzono's face failing through the air, adding to the built in adrenaline of the track.
Pizzorno hopes the new single will set the tone of what fans can expect from Happenings and said of 'Call' that: This was the launchpad,” .

Continuing Pizzorno says: “Quieter on the verses, loud for the chorus – it’s dance music! The first bit is where you get ready, the second bit is where we all go crazy. It’s really fun and just feels like now. When I finished the track, I felt I wanted to go to a gig by whoever was behind it. Everything for this album was informed by that way of working.”
Reminiscing on the how far the beloved indie band has come, the frontman says: “It’s 20 years this year since we released our debut album. But we felt the best way this band, at this time, should celebrate that was by making a new album.”
