Kate Bush has announced that her back catalogue will be reissued in new vinyl formats, with two reimagined redesigns set for her iconic fifth studio album, Hounds of Love.

The Baskerville Edition is set to feature new cover art, created by Glasgow-based design studio Timorous Beasties, embellished with a solar powered flashing LED light. The Boxes of Lost At Sea consist of two boxes, each containing one side of the album, UV printed illustrations on white vinyl and a battery powered LED light. The new vinyl editions are set for release on December 1st, with a portion of proceeds to benefit humanitarian charity War Child.

An archival campaign in collaboration with the iconic British singer-songwriter's record label Fish People, and atelier The State51 Company; the rerelease will see the entirety of Bush's discography reissued in different physical formats, with limited-edition coloured pressings available only in independent record stores or via Bush's website. All of the reissues are from Bush's 2018 remasters.

Of the new rereleases Bush said said: "It’s very exciting to see the resurgence of appreciation for the physical presence of albums released on vinyl. It’s how it’s always been for me, especially when I was a teenager. The whole buzz of the record store was part of the experience. Buying an album was an event."

"There’s a special emotional connection that happens between the possessor of an album, the music and the artwork, when it exists in the real world," Bush expressed.

"It’s something we can treasure in a unique way...”

Bush added that the new designs were inspired by previous artworks she had made on behalf of War Child. In 1993, she contributed two identical box frames that both contained a flashing red LED with text on brass plaques to an auction, having been asked by Brian Eno.

“The idea was to create a hybrid of an album and a piece of artwork you could hang on the wall,” she explained. “They’re based on something I designed for an auction for the charity War Child."

This weekend, Bush will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, alongside the likes of George Michael, Willie Nelson and Sheryl Crow. Speaking to Rolling Stone in May — regarding her inclusion in the class of 2023 — Bush expressed disbelief: "It’s something I just never thought would happen. Thank you so much to everyone who voted for me. It means a great deal that you would think of me. It’s such a huge honour."

"Now, as part of the initiation ceremony, I get to find out about the secret handshake … there is one, right?"

Kate Bush had been nominated for inclusion three times previously.
