This is the acclaimed singer-songwriter's ninth studio album following the chart-topping success of her 2020's Album No.8. Love and Money is due to drop March 24th.
‘Golden Record’ is the latest release from British singer-songwriter Katie Melua which is out today. This latest drop comes just ahead of her upcoming ninth studio album- Love & Money, set for release March 24th. The new album will consist of an exquisite and personal 10-track glimpse into the acclaimed singer’s journey over the past two years.
Over the course of her 20 year career, Katie has amassed an impressive 56 platinum certifications, establishing her as one of Britain’s highest-selling recording artists. She first burst into the national consciousness with her stunning debut, Call Off The Search, which topped the charts and paved the way for her eight consecutive top 10 UK albums- her most recent being 2020’s Album No.8.
Produced by Leo Abrahams, Love & Money was recorded at Peter Gabriel’s Real World Studios in the summer of 2022 while Katie was pregnant with her newborn son. The collection is a stunning set of songs sculpted by their creator’s gratitude in the positivity found in a new relationship, self-acceptance in the face of change, and her attempts to let go of “that background belief that happiness carries less weight than its opposite.”
I’m over the moon to announce a spring 2023 tour. Touring brings many logistical challenges these days especially with a baby, but we’re determined to bring exquisite evenings to concert halls across Europe and the UK. Europe tickets are available now & UK tickets are to come. pic.twitter.com/9buYPHLzD7

Premiering on BBC Radio 2 today with Ken Bruce, ‘Golden Record’ perhaps best embodies this, and sees the singer reflect on her place in the world; the bonuses and challenges of being a woman in the music industry, and the delicate balance of career and family.
Speaking on her latest single, the 38-year old said, “It’s about the scene changing and being a woman in the music industry and how strange and lucky I feel to have a job I’m addicted to. This approach for nearly 20 years led me to being very dogmatic and leaving very little space for my life at home. Before I knew it, the years had flown and I was 36, newly divorced, still pedalling like mad with music, while around me, friends were all married, making babies. And while the draw of making records and getting up on stage still did everything I thought I needed for my soul, I knew not having a stable relationship at home and starting a family was gradually gnawing away at me. Writing ‘Golden Record', it was like I was finally making peace with it all, accepting how things have changed in the industry, being happy with my lot at home and ready to face the fear of letting go of the forever funfair of the music industry.”
Immortalised by modern standards such as ‘The Closest Thing To Crazy’ and ‘Nine Million Bicycles’, Katie’s upcoming album will be available digitally, on vinyl and in standard & deluxe CD formats. The deluxe CD includes four bonus tracks, featuring a stunning duet with German recording artist, Philipp Poisel. The singer will also take her new album on tour in April and May with dates around the UK and Europe. Tickets and further information can be found via the singer’s website here.
