Irish artist Kean Kavanagh has shared the video for his track ‘The Magic’ from his new EP Wrestling Music.
Directed by Hugh Mulhern, who has worked with the likes of Fontaines D.C, Kojaque and NewDad, the video makes use of AI-generated imagery to bring Kavanagh’s recent transformative journey.
“In May 2022 I suffered a vocal injury which meant that for the majority of the last year, I haven’t been able to sing or record,” said Kavanagh, speaking of the track and EP. “While I’ve been working on a lot of different music and writing a lot of songs, it has been heartbreaking and depressing to not be able to realise their full potential.”

“I wrote and recorded ‘The Magic’ at home in Portlaoise and it helped me to embrace whatever the last year was and point me in a direction to go towards,” he added. “ It felt important to me and I didn’t want to just sit on it, so I gathered some instrumentals I had and worked quickly to create this EP.”
Co-founder of Irish label Soft Boy Records, Kavanagh is known for being an imaginative, genre-bending storyteller. Along with being an influential figure in the Irish music scene, he has found himself sharing the stage with the internationally renowned acts like Loyle Carner and Lana Del Ray.
