A new compilation of Lou Reed covers is on the way. For The Power of the Heart: A Tribute to Lou Reed, an expansive roster of artist were enlisted including Angel Olsen (who collaborates with singer-songwriter Maxim Ludwig), the Afghan Whigs, Joan Jett, Lucinda Williams, Rufus Wainwright, and Rickie Lee Jones, as well as the Rolling Stones’ Keith Richards, whose version of the Velvet Underground’s “I’m Waiting for the Man” has just been released.  The compilation is out 20 April 2024

In honor of Lou Reed’s birthday, the song releases today on all digital platforms, with a dazzling video accompaniment.

“To me, Lou stood out. The real deal! [He was] important to American music and to ALL MUSIC! I miss him and his dog,” says Richards, whose artistry on the guitar was once referred to by Reed as “so perfect.

Blending generation-defining hits ('I’m Waiting for the Man,' 'Walk on the Wild Side,' 'Perfect Day') with lesser-known gems, the collection spans the artist’s incredible career spanning five decades: from his earliest days with The Velvet Underground to his groundbreaking solo work.
