"You can do whatever you wanna put your mind to, you know it?," the rapper told his nine-year-old fan at a recent show.
Rapper Kendrick Lamar has shouted out a young fan at his recent show in Detroit, later sending him a heartfelt letter that encourages the nine-year-old to follow his dreams.
During a concert at Detroit's Little Caesars Arena on Sunday (August 14), Lamar noticed an audience member holding a sign which read: “My name is Kendrick. This is my [first] concert. Can we take a pic.”
He swiftly responded to the young fan, reminding him to respect his parents and follow his dreams. "[Your parents] brung you to your first concert. Always respect and honour them," Lamar said, adding "You will forever be great. You’re great right now. You can do whatever you wanna put your mind to, you know it? You understand that? … Little Kendrick, do what you wanna do in life."

"Thank you for coming," Lamar wrote. "I’m glad we got to exchange energy. You are special. Continue to manifest the great energy you possess!!! See you next time!!! Luv!!!"

The LP was well-received, with critics praising the rapper's lyricism and the album's scope.
Kicking off his tour in Oklahoma last month, Lamar is set to perform a slew of US dates throughout August and September, before coming to Europe and the UK at the end of this year. He is going to perform at Dublin's 3Arena on November 13.
