Kendrick Lamar will be the headline performer at this seasons' Super Bowl halftime show in New Orleans.
The NFL, Apple Music and Roc Nation announced the decision on Sunday, with the rapper saying he’s looking forward to bringing hip-hop to the NFL’s championship game on February 9, 2025.
“Rap music is still the most impactful genre to date,” he said in a statement. “And I’ll be there to remind the world why. They got the right one.”

Lamar has been considered one of the greatest hip-hop artists of his generation ever since his debut album good kid, m.A.A.d city in 2012, racking up 17 Grammys and becoming the first non-classical, non-jazz musician to win a Pulitzer Prize for his 2017 album DAMN.
In recent months the rapper had a high-profile feud with Drake, with Kendrick releasing two huge hits in the form of diss tracks 'Like That' and 'Not Like Us.
“His deep love for hip-hop and culture informs his artistic vision,” said Jay-Z, owner and founder of Roc nation. “He has an unparalleled ability to define and influence culture globally. Kendrick’s work transcends music, and his impact will be felt for years to come.”
Some of the biggest stars in music have taken to the stage at the Super Bowl halftime show over the years, with Katy Perry, Beyoncé, Coldplay, The Weeknd and Rihanna amongst the performers in the last decade alone. Michael Jackson, The Rolling Stones, Prince and Paul McCartney are also among the names to have headlined the massive gig in the past, with Irish rockers U2 performing in New Orleans in 2002.
