The Sophmore EP follows up last year's Elevator Music
Rising Irish rapper KhakiKid has released his second EP sand bebé.
The latest project sees him lean into the mellow hip-hop he’s known for, along with an energetic sense of humour and clean, jazzed-up beats.
On ‘Maradona’ the rapper teamed up Dublin outfit Bricknasty making a track reminiscent of early 2000s grooves a la Republic Of Loose.
sand bebé sees Khaki Kid show off his versatility. On ‘stress belly’, he explores rockier textures with soulful vocals and crunchy heavily distorted guitar. On the track ‘stone washed denim’ the artist displays a more upbeat vibe, with his playful lyrics brining a feel-good energy.
Having released his debut EP Elevator Music last year, KhakiKid has now amassed over 10 million streams. This year he’s played packed shows at Great Escape, Sea Session and a sold-out Whelan’s main room. He’ll be hitting the road in November to play Pitchfork Festival’s European dates including places such as Paris and London.

In recent years KhakiKid, born Abdu Huss, has been determined to create a sense of belonging amongst the next generations of his community in Dublin.
“I feel like there are a lot of minority groups in Ireland that aren’t represented or spoken about, so I want to show that there are places for us to exist,” he said, referencing his Arab background.
With this in mind, Huss is ready to share “a lot of collaborations and some experimental music. I’m excited to talk about real life and the good and bad times that come with it.”
