‘I have confidence I will be cleared of wrongdoing,’ the rapper states after being arrested and booked for misdemeanour battery by Los Angeles police.
American rapper Killer Mike released a new statement following his arrest at the 2024 Grammy Awards in Los Angeles.
After winning three Grammy awards on Sunday night, Killer Mike was escorted from the Crypto.com Arena in handcuffs. The LA police department has confirmed that the rapper was arrested and booked for misdemeanour battery after allegedly pushing a female security guard to the floor at a venue entrance. He was later released on his own recognizance.
The Atlanta musician, born Michael Render, said in a comment to Rolling Stone, “As you can imagine, there was a lot going on, and there was some confusion around which door my team and I should enter. We experienced an overzealous security guard, but my team and I have the utmost confidence that I will ultimately be cleared of all wrongdoing.”

The unnamed female guard allegedly suffered injuries to her hand and fingers, later receiving medical treatment and signing a citizen’s arrest warrant for misdemeanour battery.
Despite the “speed bump” at the end of the night, Killer Mike went home with three Grammys in his pocket for best rap album, best rap song and best rap performance, concluding his statement to Rolling Stone by saying, “We are incredibly proud and are basking in this moment.”
