The legendary King Diamond is set to release a DVD/Blu-ray entitled Songs for the Dead Live on January 25th.
Featuring two full King Diamond shows, Songs for the Dead Live was filmed on June 17th at Graspop Metal Meeting in Dessel, Belgium and November 25, 2016 at the Fillmore in Philadelphia in 2015. The DVD features a brace of classic King Diamond and Mercyful Fate tracks including "Welcome Home," "Halloween," and "Eye of the Witch" before launching into 1987's Abigail in its entirety. The Performances of the all-star line-up of musicians, comprising of guitarists Andy LaRocque and Mike Wead, bassist Pontus Egberg and drummer Matt Thompson, are absolutely ferocious, hammering home every single moment.
Captured on film by director Denise Korycki for Wild Wind Productions, she worked closely with King on every aspect of filming, and throughout the viewer finds themselves front and centre as the shows unfold. While the setlists are virtually identical, the drastic difference in the two venues make for distinctly different atmospheres.
Songs for the Dead Live will be released on January 25th via Metal Blade Records.
