Two of Ireland's most riotous acts give the two fingers to normalising of human rights abuses.
Waterford dance act King Kong Company and Belfast Gaeilgeoir rap group Kneecap are teaming up for a performance in Clonmel this Saturday, May 18, to coincidence with the broadcasting of 2019's Eurovision competition. All proceeds from the event will go to the Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign.
This year's competition has come under fierce criticism due to the fact that it's host, Israel, has been accused of multiple human rights abuses against Palestinians. In this month alone, dozens of Palestinians have been killed by an Israeli military assault on the Gaza Strip.
Many prominent figures, including those in the music community, have urged a boycott of this year's competition, with musicians like Christy Moore and former contest winner Charlie McGettigan being vocal in their support for a boycott.
Now, as the competition gets set to take place this weekend, Irish musicians are providing their own alternative.
King Kong Company and Kneecap will be performing at Mulcahy's Live, Clonmel, this Saturday night.
