Amy's dad Mitch says he knows nothing about it
The Amy Winehouse industry shows no signs of slowing down with The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo and Child 41’s Noomi Rapace set to star in a biopic that will be directed by Ireland’s Kirsten Sheridan.
Talking to Variety magazine, Sheridan says: “Amy’s music is felt so deeply by the audience because it was deeply personal. Her vulnerability was her strength. She was called many things - a diva, a lost soul preyed upon by tabloids, a tortured genius; our aim is an innovative, emotional and life-affirming approach as we go through the looking glass into her life and art.”
Sheridan has written the script herself.
The Swedish actress, who bears a passing resemblance to Winehouse, is also playing Maria Callas in another musical biopic and has a role in Alien: Paradise Lost
Taking to social media today, Amy’s father Mitch Winehouse says: “I don’t know anything about this biopic. I don’t know who the actress is. Usual showbiz B.S.”
He also took another swipe at the makers of the Amy documentary, which receives its DVD release this week.
“You guys who have seen the Amy film and have nasty comments to make have to know that the film has been heavily edited and distorted,” he proffered.
