Their post featured both English and Native names for each city
Irish hip hop trio Kneecap have announced their first ever tour of Australia next March.
In a post on social media, the rappers revealed the four-date tour, playing shows in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Fremantle.
The Belfast-based group said they were “Following in the footsteps of the Fenians sent here by the Brits.”
The name of each city was written in both English and the name used by the native aboriginal people of each region, stemming from Kneecap’s emphasis on the Irish language.

The tour will kick off in Meanjin/Brisbane, at The Brightside. Meanjin, the name used by the Turrbal people of Queensland translates to ‘place shaped like a spike’, referencing an area around the Brisbane River.
Naarm is the word for Melbourne in the Woiwurrung–Taungurung language, which are the native languages of the Kulin Nation of Central Victoria. The gig will be at the 170 Russell, on March 14.
The Eora/Sydney gig will take place in the Metro Theatre. Eora is the name given by European settlers to the Aboriginal people of
New South Wales, translating to ‘from this place’.
Concluding on St Patrick's day in the Freo Social, Fremantle/Walyalup will be the last stop on the tour. Coming from the Nyoongar language, Walyalup means place of the Walyo, a small brush-tailed kangaroo rat.
