Belfast rap heroes Kneecap have been named as a support act for Shame for their upcoming Brixton Academy show, with the English post-punk band due to perform at Dublin's Button Factory on March 1st, 2023.

With a debut album and a feature film in the pipeline, Móglaí Bap, Mo Chara and DJ Próvaí are heading in the right direction with a support slot up their sleeve.

Shame have announced their next album, Food for Worms. The follow-up to 2021’s Drunk Tank Pink is out February 24 via Dead Oceans. Today, the band have shared lead single 'Fingers of Steel' and announced a string of 2023 tour dates.

The new track arrives with a tongue-in-cheek music video directed by James Humby. Watch Shame make fake social media accounts to pump up their online legacy in the clip below, and scroll down for their complete tour schedule.

Of Humby’s visual for 'Fingers of Steel,' Shame frontman Charlie Steen said: “Self-obsession, social media flagellation and death can all be seen in this Oscar-nominated performance. No one’s ever done a video like this before and when you watch it, you’ll see why. Think Casablanca, but in colour, and better.”

Shame recorded Food for Worms live with producer Flood, who has worked with Nick Cave, Nine Inch Nails, Depeche Mode, Sigur Rós, U2, and PJ Harvey, to name a few.

“I don’t think you can be in your own head forever,” Steen said of the new album, which traces the theme of friendship. “It’s weird, isn’t it? Popular music is about love, heartbreak, or yourself. There isn’t much about your mates.”

Charlie Steen also referred to Food for Worms as “the Lamborghini of Shame records.” Shame's debut LP, Songs of Praise, landed in 2018.
