“Our messaging on the US-backed genocide in Gaza somehow never appeared on screens either,” the group claimed on X.
The online stream for KNEECAP’s set at this year’s Coachella festival was cut off after the group led an anti-Margaret Thatcher Chant, NME reports. The group also said that their messaging on the “US-backed genocide in Gaza” never appeared on the stream either.
“Back next Friday Coachella and it’ll be sorted,” they promised. “Grma to everyone who packed out the tent.”
KNEECAP also posted a video clip of their closing track ‘H.O.O.D’ where they shouted “Free Palestine and free the six counties.”
The Irish group performed at the Californian festival – which saw sets from the likes of Post Malone, Travis Scott, Missy Elliott, Charli XCX, Megan Thee Stallion and more over the weekend – last Friday, April 11, taking to the Sonora stage.
Not the only thing that was cut - our messaging on the US-backed genocide in Gaza somehow never appeared on screens either.

Starting the chant, KNEECAP said: “Here, if anybody was wondering, Margaret Thatcher’s still dead,” drawing a cheer from the crowd, who then sang along to ‘Maggie’s in a Box’ to the tune of KC and the Sunshine Band’s ‘Give It Up’.
Kneecap have been long-standing critics of Thatcher, and vocal supporters of Palestine, speaking about the conflict regularly in the press. In fact, at the BAFTA Awards earlier this year, Rich Peppiatt, who directed the band’s quasi-biopic film Kneecap, dedicated his award for Outstanding British Debut to those who are fighting to “have their homeland respected."
While several artists performing at the festival referendcd Palestine, they did not have their livestreams cut off. On Saturday, Green Day changed the lyrics of their song ‘Jesus Of Suburbia’ from “running away from pain when you’ve been victimized” to “running away from pain, like the kids from Palestine.”
