The Irish band have hinted that new music will be released later this year "with the idea of building up towards an album."
Irish band Kodaline will release a new EP later this year with more music forthcoming, frontman Steve Garrigan confirms in this week’s Hot Press.
As the Swords native confesses in our latest issue, “We’re already working on a new EP. I think we’re gonna release a new single pretty soon, which is exciting.”
The news comes just ahead of the band’s performances at St. Anne’s Park, an all-new venue on Dublin’s North side, on 31 May and 1 June. Recently, the band returned from a months-long tour around Asia and Australia, during which the group penned a number of sure-to-be hits, according to Garrigan.
“One of the songs I wrote in a hotel room after one of the shows,” he recalls. “I’m really excited about that song, actually. For me, it’s the best song I’ve written in a while.”
Formed in the early 2000s, Kodaline started their career in local battle of the bands competitions and Dublin pubs, performing for audiences who refused to pay attention. Since releasing their eponymous EP in 2012, though, the band has skyrocketed to success - their single 'All I Want' was an international hit, earning places on film and TV show soundtracks like Grey's Anatomy and The Fault in Our Stars.

With songs like 'High Hopes' propelling the band to further fame, Kodaline went on to release three studio albums: 2013's In A Perfect World, 2015's Coming Up For Air and 2018's Politics of Living, which came after a lengthy hiatus. All three albums climbed to No. 1 on the Irish charts.
Beyond the EP and its new singles, Garrigan hints, there might be even more music on the horizon – Garrigan reveals to Hot Press that the tunes will be released “with the idea of building up towards an album."
