Irish hip-hop artist Kojaque has been announced as an inductee to the Foundry programme.
Dublin native hip-hop artist Kojaque has been announced as one of 11 international artists to join YouTube Music’s Foundry programme.
Kojaque’s induction into the Foundry programme, which began in 2016 to help artists grow their presence on the platform and reach new audiences, is sure to yield exciting results both visually and musically. Other inductees this year include psych-soul guitarist Omar Apollo, Chicago based singer and rapper Ann Marie, Los Angeles R&B singer ilya and Brussels rapper ICO.
“My mentality towards music has all been DIY; independence when it comes to creativity is key for me. My YouTube channel has given me the opportunity to showcase that output to the world without interference,” said Kojaque in response to the announcement. “Having the support of YouTube Music Foundry means I can continue to create art with my friends exactly the way we want to make it.”
The multimedia rapper/producer has garnered acclaim for not only his musical abilities but also his visual content. As part of the Foundry programme he will receive marketing promotion and be able to participate in workshops and content creation sessions to expand his presence and further develop his content. Prominent alumni of the programme include Dua Lipa, Dave and Cavetown.
The rapper/producer rose to prominence on the Irish music scene through his critically-acclaimed releases, especially 2018’s authentic and lyrically sharp Deli Daydreams, and continues to build momentum internationally with an appearance at South by Southwest in Texas last month.
