The Kooks continue their festival reign with a headlining slot at Fever Pitch Music Festival in Galway next summer. Tickets go on sale Friday.
The Kooks have been announced as the first headliner for the 2020 Fever Pitch Music Festival taking place 26-27 June at Galway Airport. Fever Pitch will be returning to Galway for its third year with the addition of a new Big Top Tent and more headliners yet to be announced.
The Kooks also headlined Electric Picnic last summer where frontman Luke Pritchard talked to Hot Press' Ed Power about the band's last big festival: Glastonbury.
“We did a good show,” he said of the performance. “But I was drunk because I was nervous. I was in my early twenties and had done a handful of festivals. All of a sudden we were doing a show in front of 80 or 90,000 people.”
Britain’s indie-rockers The Kooks have become a staple in the British guitar bands genre. Their '60s-inspired sound dominated the U.K. charts throughout the noughties alongside Arctic Monkeys and The Strokes who both came bursting onto the scene at the same time.
In 2006, their debut album Inside In/Inside Out achieved quadruple-platinum status in the U.K. and peaked at number two in the U.K. charts. The album featured decade-defining hits ‘She Moves in her Own Way’ and ‘Naive’. Their 2008 follow-up album Konk reached similar acclaim, debuting at number one and going on to receive gold status in both Ireland and the U.K. with three more albums to follow. Their most recent release was Let’s Go Sunshine in 2018.
