The first single of her upcoming album Tension, coming September 22nd, Kylie Minogue just released 'Padam Padam' today.
An Australian pop sensation, Kylie Minogue announced last week that she has a new project in the works: her 16th showstopping album, Tension.
Revealed to the world over social media, Kylie teased that the first track off the album would be "coming soon" with no reference to when, exactly, we could see Tension's first track.
"Baby break the tension...."
Now, however, she's dropped the euphoric 'Padam Padam,' produced by Lostboy.
It comes complete with some stunning art: in warm, red and orange sunset tones, Kylie knocks one knee-length red boot over another. In the background stretches a desert behind her. It's an enticing image, and plays into the theme of 'Padam Padam's Sophie Muller music video, set to debut on YouTube later today.

It's a contrast to the album art, which features Kylie, lit in emerald tones, holding up a gem in front of her eye as she stares forward. The album itself comes out in full this September, on the 22nd.
Either way, 'Padam Padam' sets the tone for what's sure to be another fantastic album from the "Princess of Pop," especially as it comes on the heels of her 2020 album Disco - something Hot Press has previously described as a "masterful a space-disco album of relentless bangers."
Speaking on Tension, Kylie reveals that she "started this album with an open mind and a blank page. "
"Unlike my last two albums there wasn’t a ‘theme’," she continues. "It was about finding the heart or the fun or the fantasy of that moment and always trying to service the song. I wanted to celebrate each song’s individuality and to dive into that freedom. I would say it’s a blend of personal reflection, club abandon and melancholic high.”
The new body of music doesn't just feature Lostboy as a producer - the Australian star also worked with her long-time collaborators Biff Stannard and Duck Blackwell again on seven tracks.

Reflecting on trials that came with learning to record remotely, Kylie excitedly exclaims that "I loved being back in the studio with my collaborators but was also able to benefit from remote recording, which we have all got used to – my mobile studio never left my side for a year and a half!"
"The album is a mix of songs I have written and songs which really spoke to me. Making this album helped me navigate challenging times and celebrate the now. I hope it accompanies listeners on their own journeys and becomes part of their story.”
