Lady Gaga Opens Up About Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder From Rape Ordeal
Lady Gaga has courageously spoken on US national television about how she has suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder since enduring the horrible ordeal of being raped as a teenager.
After conducting the poignant interview about being raped when she was 19-years-old, Lady Gaga took to Twitter yesterday to discuss her post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), what she bravely describes as being a “mental illness".
“Today I shared one of my deepest secrets w/ the world, “ she tweeted. “Secrets keep you sick w/ shame."
The shocking revelation came after Lady Gaga visited a homeless centre for LGBTQ youth in New York. "I told the kids today that I suffer from a mental illness – I suffer from PTSD. I've never told anyone that before, so here we are,” she told the TV show.
“The kindness that's been shown to me, by doctors as well as my family and my friends, it's really saved my life. I've been searching for ways to heal myself, and I've found that kindness is the best way.”
