The Poker Face star looks set to play the role of Liverpudlian sixties pop star Black in upcoming Warwick Biopic.
Lady Gaga has reportedly signed on to appear in an upcoming Dionne Warwick biopic as the late Cilla Black. Warwick announced the making of the story of her life and career this morning at the 69th Cannes International Film Festival.
The movie will be based on Warwick's autobiography, My Life, As I See It. LeToya Luckett, originally a member of Destiny's Child, is posed to portray Warwick while Danny Glover has been cast as her father. Oscar winner Olympia Dukakis will appear as Warwick's early mentor Marlene Dietrich.
Black passed away last August aged 72. She and Warwick had a heated rivalry during the early part of their careers. Black released a cover of Warwick's 'Anyone Who Had A Heart' in February 1964, just one month after the release date of the original track. While Warwick's version was not unsuccessful Black's rendition hit was a UK number one hit.
Both of their careers were overshadowed by the early success of fellow Scouser pop icons, The Beatles. Speaking at the world renowned film festival Warwick described Black as her "nemesis" because she "stole her music".
