Lafaro
Pristine RAWK! from much fancied nordies
Championed by BBC Northern Ireland’s Across The Line and The Pogues with whom they guested recently, LaFaro trade in a superior brand of scuzzy, post-hardcore rock.
This much anticipated debut from the Belfast four-piece fully justifies the hype. In fact not since Therapy? burst on the scene two decades ago has a Northern Ireland outfit seemed so destined for greatness in the hard-rock stakes.
But it’s not all pretty and it’s not meant to be! Vocalist Jonny Black strikes the right note between menace and majesty, while the buzz-saw guitars and mighty rhythm section come together as tightly as a well wound spring. Highlights abound and include Tuppenny Nudger’ from a previously released EP, Girl Is A Drummer. Meanwhile ‘Party Hardy Marty’ and ‘Not A Song’ chugs like a blend of Hendrix and The Clash.
