The track is speculated to have been recorded during the Ultraviolence Sessions, but never appeared on the 2014 record for unknown reasons.
Having done its rounds on the internet for years before finding a home on TikTok, Lana Del Rey has replaced the unofficial version of ‘Say Yes to Heaven’ with an official release today.
Rumours have circulated for years that the song was initially recorded in November 2013, intended to appear on the singer’s third studio album, Ultraviolence, but ended up being cut for reasons unknown.
‘Say Yes to Heaven’ was first leaked in 2016 alongside other outtakes which included, ‘Fine China’ and ‘Your Girl’. Throughout the years, Del Rey has enlisted the help of producers like Rick Nowels, James Ford and STINT, as the 37-year-old attempted to rework the song for albums, Honeymoon and Lust for Life.
Although differing slightly from previously released unofficial versions, today’s drop has still retained Lana’s classic romantic dreamy aesthetic, featuring her tragically-gorgeous lyrics.
This is the singer’s first single since March’s Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd. She has since released a video to accompany the album’s ‘Candy necklace’ which features Jon Batiste. The visual sees the singer-songwriter portray Hollywood icons like Marilyn Monroe.
