The musician, composer, music producer and director has received a nomination for Best Original Soundtrack
Irish musician Lance Hogan has been nominated for an IFTA for his work on Lapland Odyssey. He wrote the score for the comedy adventure, which was produced by Ripple World Pictures.
Lapland Odyssey - an Irish/Finnish/Swedish co-production, was the most watched film in Finland in 2010, receiving six Finnish award nominations. It will make its Irish premiere at the upcoming Jameson Dublin International Film Festival.
A member of Kila for over fifteen years, Lance has also worked with a host of musicians, including U2, Sinead O'Connor, Republic of Loose, Horslips, Zakir Hussain, Liam O’Maonlai, and The Dubliners.
Lance and Kíla collaborated with composer Bruno Coulais on the Academy Award-nominated animation feature, The Secret of Kells, and Lance worked as music producer with director Neil Jordan on his last film, Ondine.

Of his work on Lapland Odyssey and Istanbul, which he also scored, Lance says: “The films offered me a great opportunity to use my experience as a composer, musician and music producer. For Lapland Odyssey I wanted the score to be familiar to a Finnish audience, as well as appeal to an international audience - I used the hammered dulcimer, whistles and a Russian violin player to achieve that sound. I have access to artists from every musical genre and was able to create a unique sound for both films".
The IFTAs take place on February 12.
